The Porta Pad E is a stable and sturdy launch platform capable of handling the demanding launch requirements of most mid-power rockets. This pad has all of the attributes you would expect in a mid-power launch pad, large blast deflector, rugged injected molded hub and legs, and a swivel mount that accepts both 1/4" and 3/16" launch rods. The tri-pod configuration spans an impressive 32.5" to ensure your rocket stays pointed in the right direction.
As robust as this pad is right out of the box, we had our concerns that heavier rockets with high thrust engines (like the G80) would cause the hub/leg joints to eventually fail, but it never happened. Regardless, we could not leave well enough alone, so we designed up another Mercury Engineerng exclusive, The G-Load E Pad Retro-Fit Kit.
This kit easily mounts directly to the launch pad hub in minutes without any modifications to the existing launch pad. It provides additional support at the hub eliminating excessive stress on the hub/leg joints. And best of all, we throw it in for free with each Porta Pad E order.

* Launch Rods - The stock 1/4" x 48" rod is fine for smaller rockets like the Grave Danger and Hijacker. Bigger rockets like the RDR's and the Integrator require a 1/4" x 72" steel rod to get them safely off the ground. Zinc plated steel rods are available at your local hardware store or online at McMaster -Carr (Zinc Plated #9120K32). While you are at it, pick up a 3/16" x 48" rod for your smaller rockets like the Invader or Mutant Daddy.
